Koen Films was born from a lifelong passion for the art of cinema and photography.

We’ve always been captivated by the power of visual storytelling, how a single frame can evoke emotion, inspire action, or preserve memories. This love for the craft led us to explore the worlds of photography and video production, shaping the foundation of who we are today.

In 2018, we took a leap of faith, leaving Brazil for Japan in search of new opportunities and inspiration. While working in factories to make ends meet, our conversations were always about the future, what we truly wanted to build when we returned home.

One day, during a walk in a Japanese park, we made a life-changing decision: to study photography and video seriously. It was in that park, surrounded by tranquility and reflection, that Koen Films found its name, “Koen,” which means “park” in Japanese.

Before this pivotal moment, Allan had impulsively purchased a Canon 77D camera with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. Though the camera sat unused for a while, it became the spark for something much bigger. Without much technical knowledge but a growing passion, we invested in a Canon 24-105 lens, marking the beginning of our journey into the world of visual arts.

When we returned to Brazil in 2020, in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, we initially opened a Japanese delivery restaurant to make a living. However, it didn’t take long for us to realize that we had been lying to ourselves—we had always wanted to turn our passion into a profession. After some soul-searching, we decided to close the restaurant and fully dedicate ourselves to photography and video production. In 2021, we began freelancing, and with every project, it became clear that we were on the right path.

As time went on, we upgraded our equipment, including switching to a Canon SL2 and a Sigma 18-35mm lens, while continually refining our skills. Later that year, we made another bold move: relocating to Dublin, Ireland, in search of new opportunities and challenges. Since arriving in 2022, we’ve worked tirelessly in the field, investing in better equipment, learning through every experience, and growing as professionals.

Now, in 2025, our passion for capturing stories has only grown stronger. Koen Films is the culmination of our journey—a reflection of our love for photography, video, and cinema. It’s our mission to transform moments into timeless visuals, to tell stories that resonate, and to share our vision with the world.
